The City of Redmond Oregon's Commission for Art in Public Places (RCAPP) invites artists to submit existing large sculptures able to withstand winter weather conditions for a 2 year loan in the City of Redmond’s OUTDOOR/EXTERIOR Public Sculpture Gallery known as “Art Around the Clock”. Selected sculptures/artist will be paid an honorarium of $1,000 for each exterior Sculpture accepted & placed.  Three awards will be presented as follows: 1st place: $1,500, 2nd place: $1,000, 3rd place: $500

We are looking for up to 18 exterior sculptures, larger sculptures above 3' in height are encouraged. Smaller Pedestal bases are 24" square & stand between 18"-36" off the ground. They have an approximately 18" sq. metal plate for welding the sculpture to the base.  Some larger bases are available for bigger sculptures approximately 3' x 4' (see site plan photos).  Artists should be aware of the need to have the artwork welded to the pedestal base so a metal plate needs to be on the existing sculpture in order to facilitate the welding to the pedestal base. The City of Redmond OR will help with installation, in the form of labor, welding, and placement (a crane is available if needed) at no charge to artist. The artist (or representative) needs to be available on site to oversee & help with the installation process.

Artists are encouraged to submit up to three (3) outdoor sculptures that are available for loan.  Each sculpture submitted for potential placement should have 2-3  photos showing differing views of that piece. Each application may submit up to 3 individual sculptures (again, each sculpture should have 2 minimum, 3 maximum photos from different angles of each sculpture submitted. These can all be in one application form.

Applications are due by end of day, March 10, 2022. Selected artists/sculptures will be notified by March 16th, 2022. The deadline for installation is in late June, 2022 and will remain in place until June, 2024. Artists living in the USA are eligible for applying. There is no fee. If a piece is sold,  RCAPP/City of Redmond takes a 30% commission fee & the artwork needs to remain in place for the remainder of the 2 yr. term, unless a mutual agreement can be made for a replacement artwork or other mutually acceptable arrangement.

Application Requirements

Submit up to 3 (three) different available sculptures. Each sculpture should be accompanied by 2-3 photos of that sculpture from different vantage points. Again, the total number of available sculptures to be reviewed are a maximum of 3 different sculptures, each with 2-3 photos of that sculpture.

Eligibility Criteria

The 2 year sculpture loan program applications are available to artists living in the USA.
