The Juror for "Water Stories" is Dr. Tricia L Bloom, Senior Curator of American Art, at the Newark Museum of Art, New Jersey.
TRICIA LAUGHLIN BLOOM is Senior Curator of American Art at The Newark Museum of Art. A specialist in modern and contemporary art, Bloom has initiated exhibitions and publications that foster global perspectives and expand the way the Museum defines American art. DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION is May 12th, 2023, online on www.callforentry.org
https://artist.callforentry.org/festivals_unique_info.php?ID=11303
The Juror will select approximately 40 artworks. Only artists who work in New Jersey will be eligible to be selected for the exhibition. Artists may submit both 2D work that can be wall hung in the gallery, and/or 3D work to be displayed on the Foundation’s grounds.
Through the lens of the artists living and working in the state of New Jersey, Water Stories will showcase compelling work thematically derived from water, a very important topic for this century, for New Jersey, and for inhabitants living on the coast and all areas near water.
Water Stories pays tribute to and explores the enduring effects of water which has been forming planet Earth since its inception, and that accounts for the precise conditions that enable life. How humans interact with water; their attempt to control, restore, sustain, and enjoy the element within their environment will be highlighted by the varied themes, narratives and visual manifestations that the element of “water" encompasses. Artworks that manifest intersections of art with science and design are encouraged.
Submissions requested are for two-dimensional wall-hung artwork in our gallery. Eligible mediums for submission include drawing, painting, hand-pulled prints, photography, mixed media, wall hung materials in the crafts, digitally created work, and video.
Three-dimensional work submitted for consideration if selected will be shown outdoors on our nature trail (subject to the elements) for the duration of the exhibition. Unconventional mediums are welcome, as long as they contain no hazardous flammable or toxic materials. Any submissions selected for display outdoors on LBIF's Nature Trail and grounds and larger than 24” x 24” must be installed outdoors by the artist. The outdoor space is unsecured. Artwork installed outdoors will not be insured by the LBIF.
Artists are responsible for delivering and reclaiming their artwork at the end of the exhibition. Artwork that remains indoors or outdoors on our campus for more than five days after the exhibition closes will become property of LBIF unless a special arrangement has been made between the artist and LBIF.
