Project Name: PAC Itty Bitty Art Project 2023

Call Hosted by Public Art Commission and Foothills Art Center

Award: $500

Project Description:

The Golden Public Art Commission wants to find a way to make art more approachable and fun for both art appreciators and artists on a small-scale budget. The Itty Bitty Art Project 2023 follows this mission to unite art and artists. There are 14 sites in the Parfet Park area in Downtown Golden. These include tree hollows, rock structures, walls etc.

Purpose:

Foothills Art Center is hosting this call. The general public will find these outdoor art pieces and be surprised and delighted by these small site-specific works. Keep in mind that these installations are meant to be ephemeral or short-lived. Being outdoors and on stone, concrete, etc., they are expected to last between 12 and 24 months. They are tiny art treasures to be enjoyed while they exist.

Artist Call to Entry:

o   Please see the site plan for images and a map of the locations

o   Submissions should take the form of detailed conceptual drawings or renderings that clearly reference the selected location. In one application, you may select up to 3 possible locations. You may apply multiple times to design works for more places.

o   The Artist must illustrate the art style they intend to use at the site-specific locations. Proposals should be intended for specific sites, using the unique aspects of the design.

o   The artist can use any medium but understand that the art is intended to be treated so that it will last between 12 and 24 months.

o   The artist will only work within the area designated to them in this project. They will not expand beyond that

area. They will not destroy or widen the surfaces they are working on.

o   The artists will clean up surrounding areas and leave their areas clean.

o   There will be no racist or political symbols, no messages of hate, and no pornography or pornographic elements included in the art.

o   Each selected artist will be paid $500 for each piece of selected art that is completed.

o   This opportunity is open to artists of all levels and ages. The Golden Public Art Commission does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, religion, age, or disability in the provision of services.

How to Apply:

o   You may only enter through the Café call for entry posting. The $12 entry fee offsets the cost of posting the call and allows for up to 3 site proposals.

o   See the site plan for the designated locations for the project. Use the name of the location (see site plan) in the title of your proposal to make it simple for us to see which site you had in mind.

o   You may apply for up to 3 sites in one entry with three different images.

Time Frame Guidelines:

o Café Call to Entry – Open until 11:59 pm July 30th.
o Artist Selections will be made by the PAC Itty-Bitty Art Committee with Foothills Art Center Curator Eriq Hochuli by around a week after the call closes
o Artist must complete their works by September 10th.
