Established in 1922, the All Media Exhibition at the Ann Arbor Art Center (A2AC) has a long and rich history. In its 100th and final year, the All Media Exhibition seeks to showcase regional talent in our new fantastic street facing gallery: This juried competition is open to all artists, 18 years and older, who live in the midwest Great Lakes region including MI, OH, PA, IN, IL, MN and WI. A2AC is thrilled to announce the guest juror, Darryl DeAngelo Terrell, a Detroit-based artist, curator, DJ, organizer, and educator.
Juror: Darryl DeAngelo Terrell
Darryl DeAngelo Terrell (they/them) is a Detroit-based artist primarily working in lens-based media (video/photography), performance, sound and writing. Darryl is also a Curator, DJ, Organizer and Educator. They’re always thinking about how their work can aid to a larger conversation about blackness and its many intersectionalities. Darryl’s work explores displacement of black and brown people, femme identity and strength, the black family structure, sexuality, gender, safe spaces for all black bodies and personal stories, all while keeping in mind the accessbility of art. Darryl received their MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
Darryl DeAngelo Terrell was a 2021 Black Rocks Senegal Resident, a 2021 Redbull House of Art Resident, 2019/2020 Document Detroit Fellow, 2019 Kresge Arts In Detroit Fellow of Visual Arts, 2019 Artist in Resident at Northeastern Illinois University, 2018 Luminarts Fellow in Visual Arts, 2017/18 Hatch Project Artist in Resident at Chicago Artist Coalition, 2017 Artist in Resident at ACRE, 2017 semifinalist for the Edes Fellowship. Darryll has performed and exhibited work at The Museums of Contemporary Art Chicago (MCA), Chicago IL, The Museum of Contemporary African Diasporan Arts, Brooklyn, NYC NY, The Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago, IL, Xpace Cultural Centre, Toronto, Ontario, Canada, The Hunter Museum of American Art in Chattanooga, TN, Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art in Scottsdale, AZ and The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington DC.

Accepted artwork: Accepted artists will be featured on our gallery's webpage: See current show for an example. Works must arrive “ready to hang” or with specific directions for special/nontraditional installation. The A2AC reserves the right to decline artworks that do not meet gallery standards or do not represent artist digital submission. No saw tooth hangers. Artists are expected to provide necessary components for special/nontraditional installations. Headphones should be included for sound-based work, as to not interfere with other work in the show. For video/sound/performance based pieces, artists will work with Art Center staff on best presentation methods.
Artwork does not need to be for sale. The A2AC retains a 50% commission on all sold artwork.
Delivery: Works may be hand delivered or shipped UPS, USPS or FedEx. If shipping, the artist is responsible for complying with all regulations pertaining to works of art. An artist desiring return shipment of artwork must arrange for return shipping prior to the close of the show. Return shipment will be packaged using the same packing materials they were shipped in. Otherwise, works must be delivered and picked up by the artist on the dates specified in the calendar. Artists are responsible for all shipping and return shipping costs, including insurance or any prepaid return shipping that is no longer valid or sufficient.
Duration: Accepted work may not be withdrawn before the close of the exhibition as indicated in the calendar.

Application Requirements
This call for entry is open to any artists 18-years and over who currently resides in the Midwest Great Lakes Region: MI, OH, PA, IN, IL, WI, MN. Artists are invited to submit up to three images per $35 entry in any combination of individual artwork or detail images. Artworks must have been created within the past three years and not previously shown in any other Ann Arbor Art Center exhibitions. Additionally, we request artwork dimensions do not exceed 72” in any direction. Mediums can include 2D, 3D, performance-based work, video, and sound.
The jurying process is anonymous; however, artists must submit a short artist statement (150 words or less), bio and CV.
