The University of Oregon seeks artworks for installation at the Black Cultural Center, currently under construction on the Eugene campus, at the Southeast corner of 15th Avenue and Villard Alley.  

The total budget for the artworks and all associated costs is not to exceed $14,000.00; this budget amount will include all development, fabrication, delivery, installation, permitting fees and related costs.  The request is to commission artworks or purchase preexisting artworks in some or all of the proposed installation locations. 
Works of art should contribute to a safe and welcoming environment for students, visitors and the University community. The Black Cultural Center is envisioned as a center for community, cultural and academic enrichment for the University of Oregon’s Black community and supporters.  Artwork proposals should reinforce the sense of community.  The Art Committee encourages artists and works that support this vision.  For specific plan details see supporting documents.
 Budget 
$14,000.00 is allocated to commission a work or works of art or to purchase preexisting work or works of art for the designated installation sites surrounding the Black Cultural Center.  The art project budgets must include all fees, fabrication or purchase, insurance, permits, engineering fees, shipping, travel, installation, documentation and any other project costs.
Installation Sites

The Black Cultural Center will be located at the Southeast corner of 15th Avenue and Villard Alley in Eugene, Oregon. 
  Possible installation locations include:

• Entry Path: 24' (long) x 9.5' (wide) - Suitable for possible integral concrete-based artwork 
• Planting area adjacent to Entry Path: 15' (deep) x 16' (wide) - Suitable for possible sculpture
• Sliding Perforated Metal Wall Panels: two 8' (high) x 12' (wide). So 8' (high) x 24' (wide) when together. Suitable for applied surface decoration.
• Interior Lobby wall: 8' (high) x 15' (wide). There will be a bench seat here so assume any art piece would be at least 2' above finish floor. The ceiling height is 10'.

Again, artists may submit proposals for any site or combination of sites.  Proposals may be for any combination of commissioned works or preexisting works. See building plans for dimensional information of each location and general renderings of the site.
