The Foundation Art Festival (FAF 2020) is a juried Makers retail show, curated by our Arts & Exhibition Committee. We look for unique products that promote the mission of the Long Beach Island Foundation of the Arts & Sciences.
We are looking for artists who create handmade, original work. Seasoned or new artisans that create unique, high quality handmade products are encouraged to apply. However, we are open to products that are designed by the artist & produced in small quantities within the continental U.S. All mediums are welcome.
The Foundation Art Festival is one of the biggest events on Long Beach Island, a vibrant arts community with patrons, collectors and visitors from across the country. As a beautiful summer resort community, the LBIF draws visitors from the New York, North Jersey, Philadelphia, Baltimore & the Washington, DC areas and beyond.
The LBIF's mission, celebrating its 72nd Anniversary, has always been to provide excellence in the art's, performance, music, science and educational programing for the community. Our goal is to unite Artists who inspire, educate, create with Buyers looking for objects that enhance their lives. Those who live on or those who visit the coast of New Jersey take home unique pieces, created by the artists who are part of our Festival.
The Festival is scheduled for Saturday, July 18, 2020 with a rain date of Sunday, July 19. A ticketed Preview Cocktail Party for our members is scheduled from 5 to 7 pm on Friday, July 17, 2020 in the indoor Gallery. The evening will feature the booths of makers who select to show their work indoors.

This year’s Festival will feature 100+ juried artists. The organizers are the Art Committee of the LBIF who will strive for a well-balanced mix of art types and price points, with emphasis always on quality of craftsmanship and originality.
Eligibility: Requirements for artists include:
Work must be handmade.
No commercially produced work, kits, or imported goods.
Artists may only exhibit works in the media they were juried into.
All work must be original and created by or under direction of the artist(s). Resellers are not permitted.
All jewelry must be hand-crafted and contain no more than 40% of purchased components (fittings, findings, etc.).
LBIF shall have the right to use all submitted photos in promotion and advertisement of the event.
Artist(s) must attend the entire Festival. Items must match type & quality submitted for jurying. No work by non-juried artists. The call is open to all artists 18 years or older.

Accepted Artists:
Accepted Artists are required to submit their booth fee payment by April 6, 2020 for participation. If the booth fee is not received by the deadline date, the artist may forfeit his/her participation in the Festival.
Credit card payments are processed directly by the LBIF. If paying with a check (US Currency only) please send via US mail no later than 7 days after the registration due date (04/06/2020). Include artist’s name and name of festival (FAF) on your check.

Booth Specifications: Two types of outdoor booth spaces are available:
Outdoors on gravel in open air: (Still available)
10’ x 10’: $225.
10' x 20': $400.
Outdoor vendors show only on Saturday July 18. (Raindate is Sunday, July 19)
Indoor in our Gallery: 10’ x 10’: $350. There will be a limited amount of 8' x 6' at $295. if available. Tentative layout of the Main Gallery indoor booth allocation is on our website: lbifoundation.org. Indoor space is limited - first come first served.

All Outdoor booths must withstand Northeast weather conditions, with canopies weighted or staked against wind. Properly weighting requires at least 40 pounds per leg (more in windy weather). Tents must be connected to weights with rope or straps, not bungee cords.
Overnight security is provided.
Special booth space and special needs requests will be accepted but are not guaranteed. We will make every effort to meet all special requests on a first come, first served basis. Additional charges may apply. Please include all booth requests on the registration form.
Demonstrations: Demonstrations are supported; they add to the vibrancy of the Festival, as well as the success of the artists. Demo artists receive additional marketing. All demonstrations will take place in the Demo area and a booth sitter will be provided during your demonstration time. (Please check with the LBIF Art Committee if your demo produces noxious smells, noise, etc, that may be of concern to other vendors, attendees or nearby residential homes.)
Are you interested in scheduling a time slot in our demonstration area? We will follow up with interested artists after the jury selection process.
Jurying: The jury panel includes 3-4 jurors: working artists, gallery managers, and Festival directors, who determine the balance of categories and select the artists. Category sizes are based in part on average sales from previous years. Jury decisions are confidential.
Advertising: The Festival is advertised through local media, signage and mailings to our extensive database. Participating artists are featured in a variety of media promotions and websites.
Wait List Policy:
Depending on the applications received, there may be a wait list selected from the jury's scores in each category, and wait listed artists are invited into the show as cancellations occur in that particular category. Wait list artists can be accepted up to and on the day of the show and will be notified by phone and/or email when a booth becomes available.
Cancellation Policy:
Cancellations must be made in written form and submitted by mail or email to the Executive Director of the LBIF. If an artist cancels on or before May 1, 2020, they will be given a refund for the amount they have paid towards the booth, less $50 processing fee, with confirmed receipt of email correspondence. Application fees and any permit fees are non-refundable. After May 1, 2020 all vendor fees are non-refundable.
No Show Policy:
Artists who have not checked in and/or notified LBIF with a message via email or phone (609-494-1241) by 8:00 am on the first day of the Festival, July 17th for Indoor vendors or the 18th for Outdoor vendors, will be considered a NO SHOW and the assigned space will be forfeited with no refund.
The Festival has a rain date of Sunday July 19, weather permitting. The LBIF is not responsible for cancellation of the Festival in due to the forecast of hazardous weather conditions requiring cancellation in order to protect vendors, visitors or property. In the event of severe inclement weather, you will be notified of cancellation of the festival. If there is a Sunday raindate for the event, the Indoor Vendors showing inside in our Galleries will be able to show/sell on Saturday at no additional charge.
Artists are encouraged to have their own insurance.
Vendor fees are non-refundable; there will be no refunds or credits given.
Participation Requirements & Festival Policies:
Acceptance is non-transferable. Booths cannot be split.
All festivals are drug-free. No smoking is allowed in or near artists’ booths.
The LBIF endeavors to be environmentally conscientious. We do not allow materials that are harmful for the environment. Please do not utilize plastic bags; instead please use eco-friendly packaging.
Artists are responsible for their own tents, tables, chairs, displays, grounded extension cords and dollies/carts.
Tents and all materials must fit in the assigned booth space.
White tents are preferred.
Artists must provide their own booth sign clearly identifying the name of the artist and/or studio.
The venue is gravel. Tents may not be anchored to the ground. Tents must be weighted down and Artists must provide their own weights for their tents.
All boxes and packing materials must be hidden from view.
There will be a stage with on-going live entertainment. No televisions, radios, cd players, etc. are permitted during Festival hours. No generators are permitted.
All artwork shown must be for sale.
All prices must be clearly marked. No Sales or Discount signs permitted.
Artists are responsible for paying sales taxes in accordance with New Jersey Department of Revenue.
Artists are responsible for the delivery, handling, erection and removal of their work and exhibit tent, tables, chairs, and equipment.
Artists are responsible for keeping their area clean, including during tear down at the end of the day. Trash barrels will be available.
There will be security overnight Friday and Saturday, however artists are encouraged to use sides of tents, lowering tents overnight, and securing their inventory.
It is the exclusive right of the Festival Committee to remove work that is not in compliance with Festival rules.
Artists check in at the LBIF to receive their booth assignment at 6 am Saturday morning for set-up.
Festival opens Saturday, July 18, 10:00 am and closes at 5pm.
All vehicles must be moved off the show grounds by 8:30 am Saturday.
Artist parking areas are within walking distance of the grounds. Cars must prominently display name & cell phone number on dashboard.
Tear down Saturday July 18 after 5 pm (or Sunday after 5 pm if there is a raindate). Artists are not permitted to take down booths before the end of the show.

Artist Agreement:
By applying to the Foundation Arts Festival, I hereby certify that these images represent my original work and that the work is unique and made by me. I also agree to follow all Festival rules as outlined in the prospectus. I/We also agree to allow images of my/our work to be used in publicity and or materials. The LBIF is not responsible for any injury or loss that may arise or affect the vendor and his/her property while said persons are on the Festival premises or during arrival/departure from the LBIF property.
