The Magic Silver Show: The Elena Diane Curris Juried Photomedia Exhibition 2021

The Clara M. Eagle Gallery is now accepting entries for The Magic Silver Show: The Elena Diane Curris Juried Photography ExhibitionThe Magic Silver Show began in the mid 1970’s as a juried exhibition designed to encourage, foster understanding, and reward those involved in photographic media.  This exhibition will present a survey of contemporary photo media in all aspects and genres of photography, film, video, and moving image. This is an open theme exhibition without restrictions on content that will include still images, film, video, and moving images. Accepted entries must be original, completed with the last 5 years, and not previously exhibited in The Clara M. Eagle Gallery. This exhibition will be on view from September 8 - October 18, 2021 in The Clara M. Eagle Gallery at Murray State University.


Awards
Monetary and merit awards will be given at the discretion of the juror. (up to $2000 in monetary awards.)

Eligibility
Entry is open to regional, national, and international artists 18 years or older working in all photo media including, but not limited to, traditional black and white or color photography, experimental or non-traditional light sensitive processes, digital media, film, video, and moving image. Accepted entries must be original, completed with the last 5 years, and not previously exhibited in The Clara M. Eagle Gallery.

Entry Details
There is a non-refundable entry fee of $35.00 (U.S.) per artist for up to 8 total entries per artist. All fees are non-refundable. Artist Statements, Resumes/CV, and Bios may be included with entries, but all are not required.  This is an international juried exhibition with works selected for exhibit by the juror.  All entries must be original, completed with the last 5 years, and not previously exhibited in The Clara M. Eagle Gallery. Please use the Call for Entry Media Prep for image & video upload guidelines. If you have any questions about the guidelines, please review the HELP FOR ARTISTS from Cafe, then email msu.eaglegallery@murraystate.edu and place Magic Silver 2021 in the subject line. All entries must be submitted for jurying process on the callforentries.org website. Entries emailed directly to the gallery will not be considered.

Sherri Nienass Littlefield, Juror
Juror Bio
Sherri Nienass Littlefield is a New York City based curator and photographer interested in data, collaborative projects and using contemporary art toward social good.

Littlefield was the director of Foley Gallery from 2016-2019, and was the Interim Director of ClampArt in 2020. Projects curated by Littlefield have been featured at PULSE Art Fair, AIPAD, the Huffington Post, artnet, dnainfo new york and Whitewall Magazine. She has served as a juror and reviewer for many competitions, including Photo Lucida Critical Mass (2020), PDN’S The Curator (2019), Photoville and PDN’s Photo Plus. She was a reviewer during the prestigious Palm Springs Photo Festival in September 2020.

As a photographer, Littlefield has exhibited her art internationally, including the Brighton Photo Biennial, the Orlando Museum of Art, the Aperture Foundation and the Museum of Contemporary Art – Georgia. Since 2018, Sherri Nienass Littlefield has served on the advisory board of the New York Chapter of the American Society of Media Photographers.

Catalogue
An exhibition catalogue is planned to be produced with reproductions of work by all accepted artists. All accepted artists will receive a PDF digital copy after it has been created.

Shipping
The cost of round-trip shipping and insurance is the responsibility of the artist. The artist should safely package their work in a reusable crate or shippable box/carton and be sure to include a prepaid return shipping label. Ship to: Magic Silver 2021, The Clara M. Eagle Gallery, 604 Fine Arts Building, Murray State University, Murray KY 42071. All artwork should be shipped framed, or otherwise ready for display (installing with magnets & photos mounted to mat board or foamcore is acceptable) If not framed, artwork should be ready for display in a professional manner and all hanging fixtures should be provided, including magnets, L-nails, or other appropriate hardware. Please clearly label top or up on your works & place your name on the backside of works. Artworks requiring a nontraditional style install should include detailed installation instructions.

Liability
There is a non-refundable entry fee of $35.00 (U.S.) per artist up to 8 total entries per artist. All fees are non-refundable. In the past, there have been up to $2000.00 in cash awards. The submission of works to this exhibition does not guarantee a monetary award. Murray State University/The Clara M. Eagle Gallery will exercise due care in handling all work submitted. The gallery does insure all artwork while it is on Murray State University property.  Murray State University, The Clara M. Eagle Gallery, or any of their agents will not be responsible for loss or damage to any work, whether such work is on display, in storage, or in transit. Insurance during transit is the responsibility of the artist. All accepted work must remain on display until the close of the exhibition. Sales will be encouraged when works are offed for purchase, but need not be for sale to be exhibited. The Clara M. Eagle Gallery will keep a 30% gallery commission on all sales, so please price your works accordingly. Murray State University/The Clara M. Eagle Gallery assumes the right to photograph any work for catalogue or publicity purposes. Each artist retains all copyright to their images. Artist’s recognition is provided with any use. The submission of works to this exhibit will be understood to imply agreement on the part of the artist or agent with the conditions set forth here.

August 3-7, 2021        Notification of accepted entries emailed to artists during this time.
August 26, 2021         Works must be shipped or hand delivered to the gallery by 4:30pm this date.
September 8, 2021     The Magic Silver Show: The Elena Diane Curris Juried Photography Exhibition opens.
October 25-29, 2021  Works will be shipped/returned or picked up in person during this time.
