Artists are invited to apply for the Uncommon Threads 2022 one-of-a-kind fiber and jewelry show Boutique.   This incredible one-day event showcases the talent of fiber and jewelry artists from across the county.  This year the event will be held at  Abbington Distinctive Banquets in Glen Ellyn, IL.  Individual artist booths are available for a booth fee of $40 for artists who wish to attend in-person, or artists may submit up to 30 accessory items into the Fine Line Managed Booth at no additional fee.  

Date: October 16, 2022 (10 am – 4 pm)

Location:  Abbington Distinctive Banquets, 3S002 IL Rte. 53, Glen Ellyn, IL 60137.  This indoor event includes a boutique area shopping experience, luncheon and a runway show.

Category A
Independent Artist Booth 
Participation is open to all wearable art of original concept in any fiber-related media.  A number of 10'x10'(size may vary depending on space) booths are available.  Space will be allocated by the Boutique Committee with all decisions final.  
If you are applying under this category, the following criteria apply:

  • Artists must submit six (6) images.
  • Images 1- 5 must show the quality and type of work that will be sold in your booth space.
  • Image 6 must be of your booth space.  An image of your booth space is mandatory.  For this image please enter 0.00 for price and the size of your booth for dimensions.
  • There is no limit to the number or price of items you can sell in your booth.
  • Artists must staff their booths and be responsible for their inventories.
  • You will be able to set up your booth space, the morning of the event.
  • If accepted by the Jury as an Independent Booth Artist, an additional $40 booth fee to reserve a booth will be due August 31, 2022.

Category B
Fine Line Managed Booth
Work exhibited must be a functional accessory of original concept and executed by the artist.  We define accessories as items that enhance a wardrobe, such as scarves, shawls, jewelry, purses, hats, etc.
If you are applying under this category, the following criteria apply:

  • You may submit up to 30 accessory items for sale.
  • You do not have to be present for any of the show days. Fine Line volunteers will staff the Managed Booth.
  • All items must be a functional accessory of original concept and executed by the artist.
  • No copies or kits are eligible.
  • All items must be priced below $250.
  • Artists must submit five (5) images.
  • The images must show the quality and type of work to be exhibited.
  • Shipping instructions will be provided upon acceptance.  Work sent for the Fine Line Managed Booth will be insured while in the possession of Fine Line.  Artists are responsible for insuring their work while in transit. ​

The following apply to ALL artists:

  • Artists are asked to provide a brief artist statement that should give insight into their process and inspiration.  Artist statements are used during the jury process.
  • All artists must pay a $25 non-refundable jury fee to apply to Uncommon Threads.
  • All work must be for sale. Fine Line retains a 35% commission on all pieces sold.  Please consider this commission when pricing your work.
  • ALL sales are handled by Fine Line.
