The Magic Silver Show: The Elena Diane Curris Juried Photomedia Exhibition 2025

The Clara M. Eagle Gallery is now accepting entries for the 2025 The Magic Silver Show: The Elena Diane Curris Juried Photography Exhibition. The Magic Silver Show began in the mid 1970’s as a juried exhibition designed to encourage, foster understanding, and reward those involved in photographic media. This exhibition will present a survey of contemporary photo media in all aspects and genres of photography, film, video, and moving image. This is an open theme exhibition without restrictions on content that will include still images, film, video, and moving images. Accepted entries must be original, completed within the last 5 years, and not previously exhibited in The Clara M. Eagle Gallery. This exhibition will be on view from August 25 - October 13, 2025 in The Clara M. Eagle Gallery at Murray State University.

Awards
Monetary and merit awards will be given at the discretion of the juror. (up to $2000 in monetary awards.)

Eligibility
Entry is open to regional, national, and international artists 18 years or older working in all photo media including, but not limited to, traditional black and white or color photography, experimental or non-traditional light sensitive processes, digital media, film, video, and moving image. Accepted entries must be original, completed within the last 5 years, and not previously exhibited in The Clara M. Eagle Gallery. All entries must be submitted for the jurying process on the callforentries.org website. Entries emailed directly to the gallery will not be considered.

Entry Details
There is a non-refundable entry fee of $35.00 (U.S.) per artist for up to 5 total entries per artist. All fees are non-refundable. Artist Statements, Resumes/CV, and Bios may be included with entries, but all are not required.  This is an international juried exhibition with works selected for exhibit by the juror. All entries must be original, completed within the last 5 years, and not previously exhibited in The Clara M. Eagle Gallery. Please use the Call for Entry Media Prep for image & video upload guidelines. C. Rose Smith, Juror
Juror Bio
C. Rose Smith is the Assistant Curator of Photography at the Memphis Brooks Museum of Art in Memphis, TN. Her dedication is not just to the art form but also to the artists themselves. Smith's mission is to offer care, elevate, and expand the voices of unexplored artists within the photography catalogue. Her research spans 19th–early 20th-century portrait studios in the US South, the history of Black and African-American photographers in the Americas and Europe, and women in photography, past and present. In previous roles, she assisted in rotating permanent collection exhibitions and managing the photography collection at the George Eastman Museum in Rochester, NY.

Smith is a member of the Photography Network and the Society of Photographic Education (SPE). She has juried exhibitions for SPE and the University of Memphis Art Museum and served as a portfolio reviewer for SPE, PhotoNola, Atlanta Contemporary Photography, and Filter Photo. She holds a B.F.A. in Photography from the Savannah College of Art and Design and an MFA in Photography and Related Media from Rochester Institute of Technology.

Shipping
The cost of round-trip shipping and insurance is the responsibility of the artist. The artist should safely package their work in a reusable crate or shippable box/carton and be sure to include a prepaid return shipping label. Ship to: Magic Silver 2025, The Clara M. Eagle Gallery, 604 Fine Arts Building, Murray State University, Murray KY 42071. All artwork should be shipped framed, or otherwise ready for display (installing with magnets & photos mounted to mat board or foam core is acceptable) If not framed, artwork should be ready for display in a professional manner and all hanging fixtures should be provided, including magnets, L-nails, velcro, or other appropriate hardware more unique to your specific install needs. Please clearly label top or up on your works & place your name on the backside of works. Artworks requiring a nontraditional style install should include detailed installation instructions. Please contact via email at msu.eaglegallery@murraystate.edu in advance to schedule an in-person delivery of your work to make certain of open hours M-F and when someone can be available to collect the work from you. 

Liability
There is a non-refundable entry fee of $35.00 (U.S.) per artist up to 5 total entries per artist. All fees are non-refundable. In the past, there have been up to $2,000.00 used for monetary awards and purchase awards. The submission of works to this exhibition does not guarantee an award or selection by the juror. Murray State University/The Clara M. Eagle Gallery will exercise due care in handling all work submitted. Murray State University, The Clara M. Eagle Gallery, or any of their agents will not be responsible for loss or damage to any work, whether such work is on display, in storage, or in transit. Insurance during transit/shipping is the responsibility of the artist. All accepted work must remain on display until the close of the exhibition. Sales will be encouraged when works are offered for purchase, but need not be for sale to be exhibited. The Clara M. Eagle Gallery will keep a 30% gallery commission on all sales, so please price your works accordingly. Murray State University/The Clara M. Eagle Gallery assumes the right to photograph any work for catalog or publicity purposes. Each artist retains all copyright to their images. Artist’s recognition is provided with any use. All entries must be submitted for the jurying process on the callforentries.org website. Entries emailed directly to the gallery will not be considered.The submission of works to this exhibit will be understood to imply agreement on the part of the artist or agent with the conditions set forth here.

June 26, 2025   Entry submission deadline, all entries must be submitted via application on the callforentries.org website. Entries emailed directly to the gallery will not be considered.
July 9-11, 2025        Notification of accepted entries emailed to artists during this time.
July 30, 2025         Works must be shipped to the gallery by 4:00pm this date. (In-person deliveries must be approved in advance, please email the gallery details to make certain of open hours (Mon-Fri) & availability of someone who can collect the work from you.)
August 25, 2025     The Magic Silver Show: The Elena Diane Curris Juried Photography Exhibition 2025 starts to be on view to the public.
October 22 - 28, 2025  Works will be shipped/returned or picked up in person during this time.

A juror talk will be held starting at 5pm on a date soon to be announced and followed by a reception in the gallery.
